Steel Vintage Bikes. Between Brandenburg Gate and Friedrichstraße, north of the British Embassy, lies the headquarters of Steel Vintage Bikes. The successful mixture of showroom, sales, rent, workshop, café and online mail order business has set up shop in the spacious area of one of the remaining Plattenbau complexes from the days of the GDR.
Well aware of the delicious food and drinks that can be found on the small fine menu, we have scheduled our visit at lunchtime. So we can combine the pleasant with the even more pleasant.
From the Noodles Store in Schönhauser Allee it’s only 4.5 km by bike – so get on your bike and go. After about 20 minutes of casual cycling, we enter the much-praised concept store for classic and vintage bicycles from the 1930s to the 1990s.
There is a lot going on, all tables in the café are occupied, the store area in the back is bustling. Owner Alexander Bisaliev is deep in conversation with customers. This gives us time to take our time and look at the Noodles Authentic clothes rack 3.1, which is used in the sales room to present the goods.
A nice mix of wool tops, leather shoes and sunglasses show a sporty look, best suited to swing on a steel vintage bike in style.

At some point, we have already photographed the clothing rack in various places in the store area, Alex can take time to take care of us with all his attention.
Time for Lunch. Over Homemade Icetea and Veggie Bulgur we learn about Steel Vintage Bikes. The wheels are mostly from Italy and some from England. Most of them are 30 to 40 years old. Which you almost can’t believe when you let your eyes wander and look over the richly displayed bikes. The style looks contemporary, everything sparkles like new!
You can buy the bikes in the store and – via the in-house online store! Shipping is via FedEx. This works great and goes quickly. To the USA, for example, in 2-3 days. Unbelievable. But true!
After the delicious lunch we will have a tour of the camp. HOLY COW! If the extent of excellent bicycles in the sales exhibition already causes enthusiasm, the senses dwindle in view of the inventory in the warehouse. Phenomenal!
On we go to the workshop. This shows the degree of professionalism. Equipped with everything that is important, here is screwed at the highest level. No bike leaves this room that is not in 1000% top condition. You can’t go below that.
On the way back from the workshop to the store, we pass the station for rental bikes. Ok – who wants to be in and around Berlin with the bike on the road, and attaches importance to quality, which finds here exactly what you need.
How nice that Alex invites us to come back tomorrow to participate in an organized bike ride of 60 km…but that’s another story.
